Fog and Sunshine

On Saturday 5-May-18, 4 cruisers made it out from Warrenpoint, while those berthed at Carlingford Marina were fog bound so unfortunately couldn’t set out to sea for the races. Earlier fog dissipated somewhat and allowed 2 races in brisk SE wind.

The Cruiser Early Season scores after 4 races are:

1st Warrior – Tim Gibbons – 6 points

2nd Sula – Chris Cassidy – 7 points

3rd Atlantic Diva – Gerry Byrne – 10 points

On Sunday there was a good turnout of 13 dinghies in almost identical weather conditions, but when the fog did burn away, there was glorious sunshine, and enough wind to make very exciting racing.

The Dinghy Early Season scores after 6 races are:

A-fleet:

1st – Stephen Finnegan – 4 points

2nd – Tim Gibbons – 10 points

3rd – Kieran & Brian Cranley – 13 points

B-fleet:

1st – Garrett O’Hare – 5 points

2nd – Chris & Vania Zammit – 8 points

3rd – Izzy O’Farrell – 12 points

Next Sunday is the Ulster Savings Cup for the dinghies, so maybe an even bigger fleet will turn out.

Bill Donnelly raced with the dinghies on his windsurfer for fun - and wasn't disappointed!Bill Donnelly raced with the dinghies on his windsurfer for fun – and wasn’t disappointed!
