Having delivered an Oyster 56 named Kudu from Portugal to the Canaries, Michael O’Farrell will be rejoining it to leave Puerto Rico marina on Gran Canaria on Monday 7th January. They are bound for Trinidad and Tobago then Grenada, a distance of approx 2700 miles taking 2-3 weeks depending on conditions.
In total there will be six crew on board, three members of the Robertson family who own the boat along with their dog (a Belgian Shepherd!), and three experienced sailors, a Canadian, a Norwegian and Michael.
Upon leaving the Canaries the plan is to drop down towards Cape Verde, and hopefully from there pick up the trade winds to head west.
For anyone interested the boat can be tracked using the link: https://my.yb.tl/Ferdia and during the trip short emails can be sent to Michael via CLYC.
Best of luck Michael – we all hope it goes well for you and Kudu (and the dog) – keep sending the photos!
