On Sunday 7-Apr-19, the sailing dinghies at Carlingford Lough Yacht Club, Killowen, had their first races of the year, and there was a good turn out of 10 boats for the 2 races organised by Ian and Stephen Finnegan. The first boat to be launched was Kieran Cranley’s 2000

After the storms of 2018, which did considerable damage to some boats at CLYC, the 10 knot easterly breeze was a welcome introduction to the sailing season. The air temperature was 10 degrees and the water temperature was something similar. Tim Gibbons and Ian Roche had a close encounter at the windward mark and an unexpected gust landed Tim in the water, but he was quickly back on board without losing any places.
