A Warrior for All Seasons

By Gerry Byrne

The All Seasons cruiser programme drew to a close on Saturday with the re-scheduled Irwin Cup and Carlingford Kettle won by Warrior and Invincible respectively. Compared to the 2018 season the number of sailed races was reduced to 51 as a result of a number of races having to be cancelled due to too windy conditions.

As expected the more racy cruisers of Warrior and Invincible dominated the winners enclosure with eight titles for Warrior and Invincible five. No doubt the Gibbons and McCann households will be busy with the Duraglit this winter. Happy to say that Sula, Proud Mary, Sunflower and Pandemonium were also allowed a little bit of silverware as well.

At this stage in the year, several of the fleet put their boats up for the winter. However next week sees the start of the October Series which takes in twelve races and it is expected that those boats still in the water will compete in this final series of the 2019 programme.
